What to Expect, How to Prepare

Currently, I am only accepting post-pubescent, beginner clients, until at least August of 2025. Please contact me with any questions.

What to Expect

In our first session together, I will seek to understand a bit about your singing history, your voice with its strengths and weaknesses, and your overall challenges and goals. In every individual lesson, I will further seek to understand your particular challenges and goals of that day. We will spend around 5 minutes in vocal exercises and spend the remaining time working on one or two songs or whatever your key challenges are, always checking to see how you feel, what is working and what is not. At the end of each session, I will provide you with some suggestions for your continued development and what might be best to work on in a follow up lesson.

What do I need?

For in-person lessons, contact me using the contact form for directions to my studio. For online lessons, you will need a good microphone + webcam (a tablet might be good enough but I would recommend a mic/webcam from the list below) and a fast and stable internet connection. If you do not already have a good mic and/or webcam, here are some good value options. Since it is best to stand while singing, I would also recommend some kind of stand for your microphone.

How to Prepare

Whether online or in-person, please be ready and on time. Try to have at least one piece of music to work on during our lesson; two would be better. The chosen music should be something you are already familiar with, not something you are trying to learn. This way we can focus on your voice and not waste time learning a part. If possible, please provide me with a copy of the music in advance, and try to be well rested and hydrated too. Nota Bene: I do not play the piano proficiently, so if you are working on a song that requires accompaniment, try to have some kind of backing track to sing along to.
